How a job moves through Lantrova

Four stages, in order, every time. No stage is skipped, because each one exists to prevent a specific and expensive kind of mistake: quoting the wrong part, sending it to the wrong shop, comparing numbers that don't line up, or receiving a part nobody checked.

Quotes are normally returned within 2 to 3 business days once we have enough information to screen and circulate the request. Manufacturing lead time is separate and is stated in each quote.

The four stages

Job screening

Before anything goes to a shop, we review what you've sent for completeness. A request that reaches shops half-defined comes back as guesses, not quotes, so we check first.

  • Part, drawing, photo, or OEM number: whatever identifies the part
  • Quantity and material, where known
  • Dimensions and tolerances, where known
  • Required date and the application the part runs in

Not every field is mandatory. If something important is missing, we come back with specific questions before circulating the job.

Shop matching

We select which screened shops see the request. Selection is a judgment call based on real factors, not a lottery and not an algorithm:

  • Capability: does the shop run this kind of work well?
  • Capacity: can they take it on now?
  • Lead time against your required date
  • Job fit: size, quantity, and complexity of the run
  • Geography, where it matters for delivery or pickup

Shops decide for themselves whether to quote. We aim for 2 to 3 comparable quotes and normally get them, but we don't guarantee three quotes for every request.

Quote normalization

Raw quotes from different shops rarely line up: one includes shipping, another doesn't; one states setup charges separately, another buries them. We organize the details so the comparison is useful. Depending on the job and what each shop provides, that can cover:

  • Unit price and setup charges
  • Material and inspection included
  • Shipping or delivery terms
  • Quote validity and payment terms
  • Manufacturing lead time
  • Exclusions and stated assumptions

Not every shop states every item the same way. Where a quote is silent on something, we say so rather than fill in the blank.

Order management

Once you approve a quote, the job becomes ours to manage. You get one contact instead of a supplier to chase.

  • We issue and manage the purchase order
  • We confirm the specifications the shop accepted
  • We track production and flag changes or delays as they happen
  • We check the finished part for conformance against the specification you supplied, and document the check
  • We arrange delivery to your dock, or make the order available for pickup
  • Happy with the shop? Re-request them by name on your next job, one click, still masked, still through us, with the same escrow and conformance check applied

The conformance check is against the specification you supplied. Requirements that need certification or specialist testing are only taken on where an appropriate path exists, confirmed before quoting.

What to send us

Send what you have. More of this list means fewer follow-up questions and a faster quote run, but incomplete is fine to start. If information is missing, we may need to come back to you before the job goes to shops.

  • Drawing or sketch: even hand-drawn with dimensions
  • Clear photos: several angles, something for scale
  • The existing or damaged part: often the fastest route
  • OEM part number: from the plate, manual, or invoice
  • Quantity: including “one, plus a spare”
  • Material: when known; “match the old part” is a valid answer
  • Critical dimensions: the ones the part fails without
  • Tolerances: when known
  • Finish requirements: paint, coating, surface condition
  • Required date: honest, not padded
  • Delivery location: or whether you'd rather pick up
  • Operating context: load, speed, temperature, washdown

Common questions

Is quoting free?

Yes. There is no charge to request quotes and no charge to compare them. You pay only when you approve and place an order.

What does Lantrova charge?

Our margin is included inside the quoted price you see: no separate fees appear later. Your first order carries no Lantrova markup at all.

What will Lantrova not quote?

Weapons, counterfeit parts, and safety-critical certified parts without an appropriate certification path. We also pause or decline jobs we can't screen responsibly. For example, where the supplied information isn't enough to define the part and follow-up doesn't resolve it.

How fast is production?

It depends on the job, and it's stated in each quote by the shop doing the work. Don't confuse it with our quoting target: 2 to 3 business days is how fast quotes normally come back, not how fast parts get made.
